The site won't be updated this week, although I hope to update it next week. I was meant to update it last Saturday, but something unexpected came up and I had to leave it until Monday afternoon. Sorry about that :)
There's been a lot of talk recently about this new rule that fanfiction.net have supposedly brought in. Recently, some people have been claiming that it's just a rumour spread around the Net, so I decided to check it out for myself in the Guidelines section. To be honest, it's kinda confusing. The updated guidelines state "You can add short author notes to the beginning or at the end of stories but never as individual chapters." Which is grand, until you read down through the Entries Not Allowed section. The number 5th thing you are not allowed enter is: "Any form of interactive entry: choose your adventure, second person/you based, Q&As, and etc."
It's the Q&A bit that's confusing. I think it means you're not allowed to respond to readers comments and questions when they reviewed your stories.
So, really, I don't know what the story is. It doesn't really affect me anyway since, so far, I haven't written anything with more than one chapter. Though that may soon change ;) Although, I can understand why people would be angry, it's hard to interact and reply to reviews if you're not allowed to respond to them at the top or bottom of the next chapter. I don't really see how it would make a lot of difference if authors are allowed to respond to their audience. I mean, why not let them?
Speaking of which... Thanks to everybody for the reviews for "Oblivious" and "Eavesdropping," I really, really appreciate them, they make me smile. I may even keep some of your suggestions in mind for future stories :)
Finally, (those of you not from Ireland, which could be all of you!, won't really understand this), well done to Tyrone for making it to the All-Ireland Final! Now, bring on the Kingdom! I have complete faith that our boys can do it! Woohoo!
